Aerotek is seeking a skilled Carpenter to join our Bloomington, IL team for a contract-based role on commercial construction projects. You will perform both rough framing and finish carpentry, install doors, trim, and cabinetry, and collaborate with trades on active sites.
The ideal candidate has strong blueprint-reading skills, experience with hand and power tools, and a proven work ethic. Safety, reliability, and punctuality are highly valued on our outdoor job sites.
This role offers an excellent opportunity for a skilled carpenter to perform a combination of rough and finish carpentry on commercial construction projects. You will work on wood framing, selective demolition, and structural modifications, as well as install doors, hardware, trim, baseboards, cabinetry, and other finish details that bring projects from start to completion.
Perform rough carpentry tasks, including wood framing, metal stud installation, and structural modifications on commercial construction projects.
Carry out finish carpentry work such as installing doors, hardware, trim, baseboards, cabinetry, and other detailed finish elements.
Execute selective demolition safely and efficiently to prepare structures for new construction and modifications.
Read and interpret blueprints and construction drawings to understand project scope, dimensions, and specifications.
Measure, cut, and assemble materials accurately using tape measures, hand tools, and power tools.
Install doors and related components, ensuring proper alignment, fit, and function.
Perform trim work and other finishing tasks to deliver clean, high-quality results that meet project standards.
Collaborate with other trades and team members on active commercial construction sites to keep projects moving safely and efficiently.
Operate tools and equipment, including hand tools, power tools, and, when qualified, scissor lifts, in a safe and responsible manner.
Support new construction activities, including framing, material installation, and related carpentry tasks.
Maintain a clean and organized work area and follow all safety procedures on active job sites.
Demonstrate a strong work ethic by arriving on time, being prepared for the days tasks, and completing assignments with attention to detail.
Proven commercial carpentry experience.
Rough framing experience on commercial construction projects.
Finish carpentry experience, including trim, doors, and detailed finish work.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction drawings.
Proficiency with carpentry hand tools and power tools.
Ability to use a tape measure accurately and perform precise measurements and cuts.
Experience with rough carpentry tasks such as wood framing and structural work.
Experience with finish carpentry tasks such as trim work, baseboards, and door installation.
Reliable transportation to and from active job sites.
Strong work ethic, including reliability, accountability, and attention to detail.
OSHA 10 certification.
Leadership or foreman experience on construction or carpentry crews.
Experience operating scissor lifts.
Relevant equipment certifications for operating lifts or similar construction equipment.
Experience with painting and finishing tasks is beneficial.
Exposure to concrete work and demolition on commercial construction sites.

This position is based primarily on active commercial construction sites and involves hands-on rough and finish carpentry work in a fast-paced setting. You will work mostly outdoors and in partially enclosed structures, often in changing weather conditions. Daily activities include framing, demolition, material installation, door and trim installation, and coordination with other trades to keep projects progressing safely and efficiently. You will regularly use hand tools, power tools, tape measures, and, when qualified, equipment such as scissor lifts. The environment emphasizes safety, teamwork, and productivity, with an expectation of appropriate construction-site attire suitable for outdoor and active job-site conditions.
This is a Contract position based out of Bloomington, IL.
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $33.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
