Job summary

SR400 Constructors in Alpharetta, GA is seeking an experienced Carpenter for the SR400 Express Lanes project. You will build, install, and remove wooden and plywood forms for concrete structures on highway, roadway, and bridge construction, working with a team to meet safety and project specs.

This full-time, long-term position runs through 2031. Candidates should have 3+ years carpentry experience, own up to 50 lb lifts, read drawings, and pass drug screening; valid license and HS diploma

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of carpentry experience, preferably in highway, roadway, bridge, or concrete construction.
• Must be 18+ years of age and pass the required drug screening.
• Valid driver's license and high school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Ability to read and follow construction drawings, measurements, and project specifications.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, work outdoors, and overtime when needed.

Position Summary

As a Carpenter on the SR400 Express Lanes project, you will play an important role in highway, roadway, and bridge construction activities. Your primary responsibilities will involve building, installing, and removing forms and frameworks made of wood, plywood, and other materials for concrete structures and other project components. You will work closely with other construction professionals to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and according to project specifications.

Principal and Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform various carpentry tasks involving physical labor on highway, roadway, and bridge construction projects.
• Build forms for retaining walls, drainage pipes, bridges, and other concrete structures.
• Form, brace, and secure structural forms to ensure stability before concrete placement.
• Align and plumb forms according to construction plans and project specifications.
• Install and secure braces and support for concrete forms.
• Measure, cut, and assemble wood, plywood, and other materials used in formwork.
• Remove forms and temporary support as required and when authorized.
• Maintain a clean and orderly work area and meet other housekeeping requirements.
• Follow project safety procedures and applicable construction standards.
• Perform additional assignments as needed.

Qualifications Required

• Minimum of 3 years of carpentry experience preferred, preferably in highway, roadway, bridge, or concrete construction.
• Must be at least 18 years of age and pass the required drug screening.
• Valid driver's license and high school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Knowledge of carpentry methods, tools, materials, concrete formwork, and applicable DOT standards preferred.
• Ability to read and follow construction drawings, measurements, and project specifications.
• Ability to build, install, brace, secure, align, and remove forms for concrete structures.
• Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting up to 50 pounds, climbing, bending, stooping, and handling construction materials.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, work flexible hours including overtime and day/night shifts, communicate effectively, and follow construction safety procedures.

Work Environment and Safety Requirements

This position works primarily outdoors on active SR400 Express Lanes construction sites and may be exposed to carpentry operations, formwork, concrete activities, heavy equipment, moving vehicles, dust, noise, uneven terrain, and changing weather conditions.

The employee must wear required PPE, including a hard hat, safety glasses, high-visibility vest or clothing, work boots, and other project-required protective equipment. The Carpenter must follow SR400 project requirements, OSHA regulations, and company safety procedures at all times.
