Job summary

J. Benton Construction seeks a General Superintendent to lead field operations on one or more Caribbean projects, ensuring safety, quality, and on-time delivery. You will coordinate with superintendents, foremen, PMs, subcontractors, and design teams to resolve issues and maintain productivity.

The role requires 10+ years in construction, 5+ years on multi-site projects, and a strong knowledge of plans, specs, and safety. Caribbean experience and PMP are preferred;growth opportunities available.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
10+ years of construction experience, including at least 5 years managing multiple large job sites
Proficiency with construction management software
Strong knowledge of building plans, specifications, and safety standards
Self-starter with goal-oriented leadership skills
PMP or equivalent project management certification (preferred)

Responsibilities

Lead field operations across one or more projects to deliver scope safely, on schedule, on budget, and to quality standards.
Partner with Superintendents, foremen, project managers, subcontractors, owners, and design teams to coordinate day-to-day execution and resolve issues quickly.
Establish a strong field operating rhythm and drive timely decisions to prevent roadblocks to production.
Own jobsite safety leadership by implementing safety plans, conducting inspections, and ensuring OSHA compliance.
Drive schedule performance by aligning short-term plans with the master schedule and tracking milestones.
Manage cost and productivity by monitoring labor, manpower loading, and production metrics; implement corrective actions as needed.
Lead self-perform execution planning including manpower, equipment utilization, means-and-methods, and logistics coordination.
Lead quality execution through field inspections, documentation control, and timely punch list/closeout.
Develop and lead field talent through recruiting, mentoring, coaching, and performance feedback.
Maintain clear communication between Field Operations, Project Management, and leadership; escalate risks early with solutions.
