Job summary

Atlantic Council’s Adrienne Arsht Latin America Center seeks an Assistant Director focused on the Caribbean to shape and execute program work across the region. You will manage the Dominican Republic–US Task Force, coordinate high-level convenings, and develop policy-relevant analysis to elevate Caribbean-US engagement.

The role emphasizes entrepreneurial program design, fundraising support, and external representation, with a requirement to be in Washington, DC at least four days a week.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in economics, international affairs, or international development; Master’s degree preferred.
  • 2–4 years of experience in international affairs, public policy, and economics.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of political, economic, and social issues in the Caribbean; Caribbean experience a plus.
  • At least 2 years of experience in project or event management.
  • Ability to represent the Atlantic Council to external constituencies; senior officials, donors.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and collaborate with junior and senior colleagues.
  • Fluency in Spanish and English, with strong writing and editing skills.
  • Experience with WordPress, Canva, HubSpot, and Salesforce for content creation.
  • Excellent organizational, logistical, and administrative skills.
  • Deep understanding of the Washington policy environment.

Responsibilities

  • Shape and execute the Caribbean strategy with focus on English-speaking Caribbean and the Dominican Republic.
  • Manage and grow the Dominican Republic–US Task Force with agenda, stakeholders, convenings, and recommendations.
  • Develop ports and strategic infrastructure work across Latin America and the Caribbean.
  • Produce timely analysis and publications (briefs, memos, commentaries, op-eds, talking points).
  • Organize high-level public and private convenings from concept to execution.
  • Coordinate relationships with Caribbean diplomatic corps, governments, donors, and policy experts.
  • Support fundraising and business development with concept notes and donor briefings.
  • Represent AALAC externally and collaborate across the Atlantic Council.
