Job summary

The Atlantic Council seeks an Assistant Director for the Adrienne Arsht Latin America Center to drive Caribbean programming from Washington, DC. Lead strategy, coordinate portfolios, and expand programming while engaging governments and the private sector.

You will help shape policy-relevant analysis, organize high-level events, and advance fundraising efforts, building a substantive profile on Caribbean affairs and US policy toward the region.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in economics, international affairs, or international development; Master’s degree preferred.
  • 2–4 years of combined professional experience in international affairs, public policy, and economics.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of political, economic, and social issues in the Caribbean; experience there is a plus.
  • At least 2 years of experience in project or event management.
  • Ability to represent the Atlantic Council to external constituencies, such as senior officials and donors.
  • Proven track record juggling multiple projects with junior and senior colleagues.
  • Native-level Spanish-language and English-language skills with excellent written and oral communication.
  • Experience with WordPress, Canva, HubSpot, Salesforce or similar tools is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Shape and execute the Center’s Caribbean strategy, focusing on English-speaking Caribbean and Dominican Republic.
  • Manage and grow the Dominican Republic–US Task Force via agenda setting and stakeholder engagement.
  • Develop ports and infrastructure work across Latin America and the Caribbean with focus on trade and security.
  • Produce timely analysis and publications: briefs, memos, commentaries, op-eds, talking points.
  • Plan high-level public and private convenings from concept to execution with measurable outcomes.
  • Coordinate relationships with diplomatic corps, governments, donors, and policy experts.
