Job summary

Carrix, Inc./SSA Marine, Inc. is seeking an Equipment Operator to join the operations team in Columbus, Mississippi.

You will direct and safely handle cargo, maintaining productive relationships while upholding safety standards and efficient operations. The role requires at least two years of experience with powered industrial trucks, familiarity with terminal operations, and the ability to work rotating shifts in outdoor, dusty, and noisy environments.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years' experience operating powered industrial truck-type equipment.
• Thorough knowledge of terminal operations.
• Experience with power and hand tools.
• Knowledge of safety and accident prevention codes and regulations.
• Knowledge of cargo stowage and stability strongly desired.
• Must observe all safety and health requirements.
• Requires the ability to operate large equipment and direct a complex and diverse workforce in a fast-paced environment.
• Requires problem-solving skills to respond quickly and effectively to operational issues.
• Requires the ability to follow instructions in a fast-paced environment and be available to work varied hours and days.
• Requires the ability to communicate effectively with the workforce and other staff
• Requires the ability to analyze and troubleshoot operations.
• Valid driver's license and TWIC card.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with staff while handling cargo as directed safely and in a manner to complete tasks according to plans.
• Support, monitor, and troubleshoot, when necessary, ensuring data is accurate and informing terminal staff of any discrepancies.
• May participate in physical inventories to verify stock and ordering needs
• Must understand and adhere to safety procedures while implementing plans to address safety hazards.
• Reports problems and issues to the appropriate Manager.
• Maintain a safe and efficient work environment.
• Performs other related duties as required.
