Job summary

Parker’s Maple Barn in Mason, NH is seeking a reliable caretaker to keep our restaurant, gift shop, and sugar house running smoothly. You’ll handle cleaning, upkeep, and general maintenance, with a hands-on, can-do attitude.

This 30–40 hour per week role offers weekends optional and seasonal tasks, including snow removal, landscaping, and assisting with maple syrup operations, all within a warm, community-focused setting.

Qualifications

  • At least 3 years of maintenance or caretaking experience.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks in various weather conditions.
  • Restaurant experience is preferred to navigate our environment.
  • Weekend availability for seasonal needs and flexibility with schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Daily cleaning and upkeep of floors and spaces.
  • Outdoor maintenance including mowing, snow removal, and parking lot care.
  • Maple syrup operations support and inventory management.
  • Equipment and facility care, including filters and lighting maintenance.
  • Seasonal projects and deliveries/stocking for restaurant, gift shop, and sugar house.

Join Our Team as a Caretaker at Parker's Maple Barn
in Mason, NH!

Looking for a hands-on role where no two days are the same? Parker's, a beloved restaurant, gift shop, and sugar house nestled in Mason, NH (right near Ashby & Townsend, MA), is searching for a skilled and reliable caretaker to help keep our operation running smoothly. If you’re a jack-of-all-trades with a knack for maintenance and a passion for keeping things in tip-top shape, we’d love to hear from you!

What You'll Be Doing

As our caretaker, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring that Parker’s remains a welcoming and well-maintained destination for our customers. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Daily Cleaning & Upkeep: Vacuum and sweep floors, wash floors, empty outdoor trash receptacles, water plants, and rake areas around the building.
  • Outdoor Maintenance: Mow lawns, trim weeds, shovel snow, operate a snowblower, spread sand and salt, and maintain parking lots (including filling potholes) and more...
  • Maple Syrup Operations: Bottle and fill syrup for the gift shop and kitchen, maintain syrup inventory, wash sap buckets and maple equipment, and assist with tapping trees and collecting sap.
  • Equipment & Facility Care: Maintain exhaust fans, change water filters, clean windows, change light bulbs, and ensure equipment is in working order.
  • Seasonal Projects: Stack, move, and cut firewood/pellets, varnish and stain surfaces during winter summer/break, and assist with other seasonal tasks.
  • Deliveries & Inventory: Help load/unload deliveries and stock supplies for the restaurant, gift shop, and sugar house.
What We're Looking For

To thrive in this role, you’ll need:

  • Experience: At least 3 years of relevant experience in maintenance, caretaking, or a similar role.
  • Physical Capability: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks in various weather conditions.
  • Knowledge of the Restaurant Industry: Restaurant experience is strongly preferred to help you navigate our unique environment.
  • Flexibility: This is a 30-40 hour position, 4 or 5 days per week with Tuesdays and Wednesdays off. (While working weekends regularly is not required, you must be available to work seasonal/occasional weekends).
  • A Handy Skillset: From driving a tractor, snow removal to equipment/grounds maintenance, you should be comfortable tackling a variety of tasks with a can-do attitude.
