Job summary

CiminoCare is seeking a compassionate caregiver to provide direct hands-on care to residents in a respectful, dignified environment. You will support daily activities, monitor health cues and maintain clean, comfortable living spaces.

Reports to Shift Manager, Care Coordinator or Administrator. You will follow care plans, document changes and participate in mandatory training to ensure top-quality resident care and safety.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent, required
  • Some prior experience in caring
  • At least 18 years or older, required
  • CNA and/or Home Health Aide certification preferred

Responsibilities

  • Know the location and disposition of all residents at all times
  • Ensure each resident looks clean and presentable throughout the day
  • Assist with dressing, grooming and personal care tasks as needed
  • Maintain tidy resident rooms, make beds and organize clothing
  • Assist with resident comfort, safety and enjoyment
  • Document changes and report to shift manager / RCC / Administrator by shift end

Description

The primary obligation of all CiminoCare employees is to provide excellent personalized care to all of our residents. All residents will be treated with respect and dignity. Residents’ rights will be protected and upheld at all times. Communication with residents, families and health care professionals will build and maintain the reputation of CiminoCare as a competent long term care facility, whose care standards meet or exceed those of the residential elder care industry.

SUMMARY:

The purpose of this position guide is to establish and define the duties, responsibilities, authority and reporting relationships of the position of the Caregiver. The caregiver is the key person delivering direct hands-on care to the residents. Their work is center piece of the facility’s day-to-day operations. Reports to either Shift Manager, Care Coordinator or Administrator.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
  • Know the location and disposition of all residents (under direct care) at all times
  • Ensure each resident looks clean and presentable throughout the day
  • Assist with dressing, applying make-up, combing hair, cleaning eyeglasses, and assisting with other personnel grooming tasks as needed
  • Keep residents’ rooms in proper order throughout the day, including tidying rooms, making beds and putting clothes away
  • Assist residents by providing for their comfort, safety and enjoyment
  • Keep any internal charts current, know of each resident’s needs and report all observed physical and emotional changes in residents to the shift manager or RCC (Resident Care Coordinator) or Administrator. Report should occur by the end of the shift and should be documented in the change-over notes, unless immediate intervention is needed
  • Attend periodic staff meetings and in-service training and mandatory meeting as required
  • Read, follow and sign any care plans and posted messages and/or updates during each shift
  • Observe Resident’s Rights, as posted within the facility
  • Promptly respond to resident calls for assistance
  • In Emergency situations, assist residents according to the Emergency Plan of the facility
  • Assist with First Aid as directed
  • Maintain a cooperative and cheerful attitude when relating to residents or their guests
  • Assist residents at mealtimes as directed or needed
  • Assist residents with personal hygiene needs as needed throughout the shift
  • Assist residents with daily recreational activities, including crafts, games, music and exercise and encourage participation
  • Follow any written work schedules and service schedules
  • Residents in group are all receiving quality care
  • All required documentation being done properly and in timely manner
  • Schedule is being followed
  • Perform other duties assigned

Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Each employee must have a physical examination and tuberculin test performed by a physician. The tests are to be completed (with results) within seven (7) days after hire (unless regulations stipulate completion before employment.) If the exams are not completed within this time, the employee will be placed on suspension until they are completed.
  • The Department of Social Services (DSS) licensing agency requires that fingerprints cards and an affidavit on criminal convictions be submitted for the purpose of conducting a criminal record review. The DSS will issue an approval or denial according to the criminal clearance reports. An approval must be obtained in order to retain employment.
  • All employees must keep their FIRST-AID certification current
  • Skills, knowledge and abilities: skill in compassionately caring for elderly, knowledge of proper caregiving techniques and the ability to care for several residents at one time
  • Organizational skills: must be able to maintain order and efficiency in performing job duties, maintain constant pace
  • Mental: must be able to handle stress well, stay calm under pressure. Must be able to think and make decisions consistent with policies and procedures and licensing regulations
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • High School diploma or equivalent, required
  • At least some prior experience in caring
  • At least 18 years or older, required
  • Certified Nurse Assistant and/or Home Health Aide Certificate, preferred
