Job description

Salary: $16.50 - $20.50 / per hour

A Personal Care Assistant provides support services to assist clients with personal, physical mobility, and therapeutic care needs, as established by healthcare professionals. The role may involve working in various settings, including homes and schools.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provides services to individuals needing assistance with daily activities
• Demonstrates competence in performing skills outlined in the care plan
• Provides health care tasks, personal hygiene services, and related support to maintain client health
• Assists with transfers and ambulation
• Supports teachers in helping students learn and provides feedback to students and supervisors/teachers (if applicable)
• Performs incidental household services as part of the personal care plan (if applicable)
• In school settings, accompanies students on bus to and from school (if applicable)
• Provides companionship through reading, listening, and talking with clients
• May assist in supervising students during recess and lunch, and accompany students on community activities
• Strictly maintains confidentiality of all client, family, and employee information
• Assists clients in developing independent skills through self-care activities
• Implements behavior management techniques as directed, including reinforcing appropriate behaviors and managing time-outs
• Reports changes in client status as per the care plan
• Adheres to HIPAA privacy policies and procedures
• Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements:

• State licensure or certification as required
• One year of relevant experience preferred
• Current BLS certification
• Current PPD or Chest X-Ray
• Knowledge of child growth and development
• Ability to coordinate services between home, school, health agencies, and community resources
• Effective communication skills; proficiency in English may be required
• Computer proficiency
• Must be at least 18 years old
