Job Description:
A Personal Care Assistant provides support services to assist clients with personal, physical mobility, and therapeutic care needs, as established by healthcare professionals. They may work in various settings, including homes and schools.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provides services to individuals needing assistance with daily activities.
- Demonstrates competence in performing skills outlined in the care plan.
- Provides healthcare tasks, personal hygiene services, and related support to maintain client health.
- Assists with transfers and ambulation.
- Supports teachers in helping students learn and provides feedback.
- Performs incidental household services as part of the care plan.
- In school settings, accompanies students on buses.
- Provides companionship through reading, listening, and talking.
- Supervises students during recess and lunch, and accompanies them on community activities.
- Maintains confidentiality and adheres to HIPAA policies.
- Assists clients in developing independent skills in self-care activities.
- Implements behavior management techniques as directed.
- Reports changes in client status as per the care plan.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
- State licensure or certification as required.
- One year of relevant experience preferred.
- Current BLS certification.
- Current PPD or Chest X-Ray.
- Knowledge of child development.
- Ability to coordinate services between various agencies.
- Strong communication skills; proficiency in English may be required.
- Computer proficiency.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
