Job summary

Visiting Angels Lufkin seeks a dedicated caregiver to support seniors in Deep East Texas with compassionate, person-centered care. The role focuses on companionship, mobility assistance, and daily activities.

You will work with a local team to improve quality of life for clients in their homes and communities. Responsibilities include medication reminders, personal care, meal preparation, light housekeeping, and safe transportation.

Qualifications

• 2 years professional experience with the elderly in a facility or with an agency or CNA certification
• Passion to serve others and compassionate attitude
• Knowledge of emergency response and first aid

Responsibilities

• Help clients take prescribed medication
• Assist clients with ambulation and mobility around the house or outside (Transferring assistance using hoyer lifts or gait belts or walkers and wheelchairs)
• Assist clients with personal care and hygiene (Bathing assistance and incontinence care)
• Help clients with routine exercises
• Plan and prepare meals with assistance from the clients (when they are able)
• Do the client’s shopping or accompany them when they shop (grocery shopping, salon, dr appointments)
• Perform light housekeeping duties that clients can’t complete on their own
• Be a pleasant and supportive companion
• Report any unusual incidents
• Act quickly and responsibly in cases of emergency

Caregiver Responsibilities

Caregiver Requirements

• Passion to serve others - a true caregiver
• Excellent knowledge of emergency response and first aid
• Knowledge of housekeeping activities and cooking with attention to dietary constraints
• Willingness to adhere to health and safety standards
• Respectful and compassionate
• Experience with Bathing assistance and incontinence care
• Experience with Transferring seniors using a hoyer lift or gait belt
• Strong ethics
• Knowledge of Alzheimer's and Dementia
