Alternate Perspectives, Inc. (API) is seeking a Career Transition Specialist (CTS) to assist students as they transition from Job Corps into employment, education, or military service. This role provides career guidance, job placement support, and post-program assistance, ensuring students successfully navigate their next steps.
If you want to be a part of a dynamic team that helps young people ages 16-24 years old, this job is for you! You will be a part of the nation’s most successful youth training and education program, Job Corps, for the past 60 years.
What You’ll Do:
- Assist Students with Career Planning, providing guidance on job searches, career paths, and further education.
- Provide Labor Market Insights, helping students explore job opportunities in high-demand industries and locations.
- Support Job Development Efforts, identifying job openings, training programs, and apprenticeship opportunities.
- Maintain Graduate Records, ensuring documentation such as resumes, certifications, and diplomas are up to date.
- Monitor & Track Student Progress, following up on graduates to ensure retention, job satisfaction, and career advancement.
- Build & Maintain Employer Relationships, partnering with businesses, workforce agencies, and educational institutions.
- Offer Post-Separation Services, helping graduates access community resources, career counseling, and additional training.
- Develop Career Transition Programs, creating workshops, networking events, and career fairs for students.
- Collaborate with Staff & Departments, ensuring seamless career transition planning for students.
- Promote Career Readiness, mentoring students on workplace professionalism, interview skills, and career progression.
- Transport Students to Interviews & Job Centers, ensuring they have access to essential career resources.
What We’re Looking For:
- Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree OR Associate degree + 2 years of experience in human services, psychology, counseling, education, or related fields.
- Experience with Youth & Career Services preferred.
- Strong Communication & Mentorship Skills, providing guidance, encouragement, and career coaching.
- Tech-savvy & Organized, proficient in maintaining student records, reports, and compliance documentation.
- Valid Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record (for student transport needs).
