Job summary

The Cove School in Northbrook, IL is seeking a Transition Job Coach for the 2026-2027 school year. This full-time role works with students one-to-one and in small groups at the Cove Career Center and in the community, supporting independent living skills and work readiness.

You will supervise students at work sites, model tasks, provide accommodations, collect data, and give feedback, while coordinating with the Transition Supervisor to review progress and plan next steps.

Qualifications

• Minimum bachelor's degree.
• Illinois Substitute License or Professional Educator License preferred.

Responsibilities

• Meet with student workers to review job description and help each student set personal goals.
• Review work expectations and procedures with students, including hours, attire, sign-in/out, call-in procedures, breaks, and how to ask for more work.
• Discuss and practice appropriate social interactions with supervisors, co-workers, and customers.
• Practice asking work-related questions and provide appropriate feedback.
• At the work site, learn and perform tasks, model tasks, and gradually fade support.
• Set up weekly meetings with the work site supervisor to review progress and collect written reports monthly.
• Coordinate an exit interview with student and supervisor to obtain final performance summary.
• Suggest strategies for student workers on approaching difficult tasks.
• Assist with problem solving and report progress to Transition Supervisor.
