Job summary

Georgia Northwestern Technical College seeks a Career Services Coordinator on campus with occasional travel to other campuses. The role reports to the Director of Enrollment Services and coordinates career counseling and services.

You will guide students in career choices, create resumes and interview prep, manage Handshake and CRM platforms, and coordinate job fairs and workshops. On-site work is required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college; two years related employment or career services experience.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills for a diverse student population.
  • Preferred: Master’s degree and 3+ years in higher education career services.
  • Experience with Handshake and CRM platforms like Salesforce/Target X, Slate or Element 451.
  • Bilingual Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

Job Description

Career Services Coordinator Full Time Campus TBD

Georgia Northwestern Technical College is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Career Services Coordinator on one of our six local campuses and will be required to travel to other campuses to meet operational requirements. This position will report to the Director of Enrollment Services. The Career Services Coordinator will, under minimal supervision, coordinate all career counseling and career services activities; guide students in the identification of potential career choices and coordinate the career services between students and employers; maintain active involvement in community organizations; use analytical and computer skills to improve student engagement; complete administrative reports; coordinate with internal and external team members; and assist with recruiting activities. This position requires an on-campus work environment presence and does not offer a telework option.

Duties/Responsibilities
  • Guides students in identifying a potential program of study and career choices to identify their abilities, needs, interests, and values about career opportunities and job searches
  • Receives, processes, files, and makes available information to students concerning job opportunities and stays in regular contact with students to provide job leads and follow up on the progress of their job search.
  • Provides one-on-one counseling to students seeking assistance with creating resumes and cover letters, job search, interviewing, and other skills.
  • Maintains and updates webpage and Career Services Handshake account, which include links to job postings and job search sites, helpful tips on the job search, and information about area job fairs.
  • Conducts job fairs to provide students/graduates with area employment opportunities.
  • Provides workshops and presentations to classes and/or groups requesting information related to career services.
  • Stays abreast of area business and industry trends; maintains updated information on salaries for those programs offered by the college.
  • Provides job postings to program faculty to share with their students; contacts faculty about possible candidates for jobs.
  • Works closely with faculty and staff to follow up on student employment data.
  • Attends meetings, workshops, peer group meetings, and other business-related events to keep updated on changes within the profession.
  • This will sometimes require overnight travel.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four (4)-year college or university and two (2) years of related employment and/or career services experience
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and good interpersonal skills for a diverse student population
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree from an accredited university and/or three plus (3+) years of career services experience in a higher education setting
  • Certification or previous professional development in resume building, creating cover letters, or interview skills
  • Experience supervising employees, especially across multiple sites or campuses
  • Exceptional presentation abilities, including in-classroom workshops or teaching experience
  • Experience with college career network platforms such as Handshake, Purple Briefcase, Symplicity, GA@Work, etc.
  • Experience with CRM platforms, particularly Salesforce/Target X, or comparable systems such as Slate or Element 451
  • Experience planning and implementing large-scale events such as job fairs or on-campus resource fairs
  • Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite, Photoshop/Premier (or equivalent video and photo editing software), virtual meeting/webinar software, etc.
  • Familiarity with AI productivity tools (Microsoft Copilot, Claude, ChatGPT, or similar)
  • Digital content management experience, including YouScience or Pathful Explore (formerly Virtual Job Shadow) or similar software, creating video training content, managing social media accounts, job boards, and creating live virtual events
  • Active relationships with area businesses and/or networking organizations
  • Bilingual (Spanish)
Physical Demands

Work is typically performed in a classroom or office environment with intermittent sitting, standing, or walking in various settings. The employee occasionally lifts or moves objects to a light to medium weight. Full range of hand and finger motion may be utilized for data entry purposes. If the job involves driving, physical requirements include the ability to operate a vehicle and sit for extended periods.

Salary: $50,000
