Job summary

The University of Rhode Island invites applications for a professional Staff position as a Career Counselor in the College of Business. You will provide comprehensive career counseling to undergraduates, graduates, and alumni, guiding self‑assessment, exploration, job search prep, interviewing, networking, and AI-powered resources.

You will develop and deliver career education programs and advise individuals and groups, coordinating with the Center for Career and Experiential Education to ensure

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or equivalent in relevant field.
• Minimum of two years direct career counseling experience at college/university level or five years with a bachelor’s.
• Experience administering and interpreting career assessment tools and frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Counsel and advise College of Business students and recent alumni on career development and decision‑making through individual consultations and group programs.
• Assist students in identifying career goals, exploring pathways, developing job search strategies, and preparing for employment or further education.
• Assist in the development, promotion of, and support of the College of Business Career Pathways Program with experiential education coordinator and other career team staff.
• Design, develop, promote, and facilitate workshops and programs for career planning and professional development.
• Collaborate with College of Business advisors, experiential education coordinator, academic areas, and student organizations for coordinated programming.
• Coordinate and support employer engagement activities, including networking events, information sessions, mock interviews, career fairs, and internship recruitment.
• Guide students in resumes, cover letters, LinkedIn profiles, portfolios, and other career materials.
• Assist students in utilizing AI-powered career tools and web-based resources.
• Coordinate with instructors for career readiness curriculum.
• Stay current on labor market trends, hiring practices, and career development theory.
• Participate in committees supporting student retention, engagement, and career readiness.
