Job summary

Eckerd Connects is seeking a Career Preparation Instructor to deliver instruction in designated subject areas within a regular classroom setting in Laredo, TX. You will work toward SMART goals established by management and strive to motivate students to achieve their best.

You will maintain classroom discipline, build strong rapport with students, and utilize curriculum resources to maximize learning and student success. This role supports program goals.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor’s in Education with English or Social Studies preferred.
  • Prefer one year teaching disadvantaged youth and a valid driver’s license.
  • Pass a drug screen and nationwide background check is required.
  • Employment is contingent upon program policies.

Responsibilities

  • Instruct in designated subject area in a regular classroom.
  • Meet SMART goals established by management annually.
  • Maintain classroom discipline to maximize learning.
  • Establish student/instructor rapport using curriculum resources.
  • Prepare materials, maintain attendance and student folders.

Annual Salary: $44,000
Duties and Responsibilities
  • The Career Preparation Instructor performs as an instructor in a regular classroom setting, presenting instructions in designated subject area.
  • The Career Preparation Instructor meets SMART Goals established by management every Program Year.
  • Maintains a high degree of discipline within the classroom setting in order to insure maximum learning and student motivation.
  • Establishes a high degree of student/instructor rapport; utilizes all possible curriculum resources available.
  • Responsible for adequate classroom preparation, student folders, and daily attendance; maintains student personnel folders.
Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Prefer Bachelor's degree in Education with a major in English, Social Studies, or related field.
  • Prefer one year in a teaching capacity with disadvantaged youth.
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record preferred.
  • Required to pass a drug screen in compliance with our Substance Abuse and Drug-Free Workplace policy.
  • Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a nationwide criminal background check.
