Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Counseling, Higher Education, Human Services, Psychology, Social Work, Career Development, Education, or related field; Master's preferred.
• 1–3 years in academic advising, career services, student success, counseling, or related student support.
• Knowledge of career development theories and advising practices.
• Experience with diverse student populations in higher education or community organizations.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, presentation, and organizational skills.
• Experience using SIS/CRM or advising technologies.
• Ability to analyze student data and provide proactive interventions.
• Commitment to equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive advising.

Responsibilities

• Utilize holistic advising practices to assist students with academic, career, transfer, and personal goals.
• Guide students through career exploration using labor market information and career planning tools.
• Connect academic programs to career pathways and employment opportunities.
• Conduct proactive outreach to students identified through alerts and retention campaigns.
• Help students develop Academic and Career Success Plans aligning education with long-term goals.
• Advise on academic policies, including attendance, grades, and withdrawals.
• Refer students to campus/community resources addressing barriers to persistence.
• Collaborate with faculty and student support offices to coordinate interventions.
• Follow up to monitor progress and encourage continued enrollment.
• Facilitate career advising sessions, workshops, and career readiness programming.
• Participate in enrollment initiatives and orientation activities.
• Maintain accurate case notes in student success software.
• Demonstrate multicultural competence and foster belonging.
• Participate in department and college-wide meetings.
