Job summary

Northern Virginia Family Services (NVFS) is seeking a Career Navigator to join the Community Housing team's RSSP. The role focuses on helping TANF-eligible individuals achieve employment, stability, and self-sufficiency through tailored career coaching and access to training and resources.

You will assess needs, create personalized plans, assist with resumes, and provide ongoing coaching while connecting clients to education, training, and community supports.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years of related experience in coaching, adult education, workforce development.
• Experience serving individuals facing barriers or vulnerable populations.
• Fluency in English required; bilingual in Spanish/Amharic/Arabic a plus.
• Background checks required; reliable transportation to visit locations.

Responsibilities

• Provide Career Navigation and Employment Support.
• Conduct individualized assessments of skills, interests, and barriers.
• Develop personalized employment plans with goals and steps.
• Assist with resumes, cover letters, applications, interviews, and job search.
• Provide ongoing career coaching to improve professionalism and retention.
• Connect clients to education, training, and credentialing opportunities.
• Coordinate workshops on career readiness and employment skills.
• Represent NVFS at community events to promote services.
