Job summary

Northern Virginia Family Services (NVFS) is seeking a Program Specialist for the Community Housing RSSP. You will provide administrative and operational support to help homeless individuals and families obtain and maintain affordable housing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Social Work or related field preferred.
• At least one year of related work experience in program support, eligibility determination, financial assistance, housing, or client coordination preferred.
• Experience handling confidential information and maintaining accurate records and documentation.
• Ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures, eligibility requirements, and program guidelines.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with diverse clients, landlords, and partners.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate Program Intake, Eligibility, and Enrollment.
• Conduct initial screenings, intake interviews, and eligibility assessments.
• Review and process applications and enrollment into housing assistance services.
• Determine initial and ongoing eligibility according to guidelines.
• Explain program services, eligibility, rights and responsibilities, and appeal procedures.
• Coordinate referrals and follow-ups with participants, case managers, and partners.
