Job summary

Goodwill of North Georgia is seeking a Navigator to provide vocational and academic guidance, advocacy, and case management to Career Services participants. You will act as liaison between technical colleges, Goodwill, and program partners to advance college readiness and employment outcomes.

The role requires master’s, bachelor’s or associate degrees with relevant experience, strong analytical and communication skills, and the ability to work across community resources.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in education, rehabilitation counseling or a counseling-related field.
• Bachelor’s degree in education, vocational rehabilitation or a counseling-related field with one year experience in college counseling.
• Associate’s degree in an education or vocationally related field with two years’ experience in college counseling.
• Strong analytical, writing and communication skills.
• Experience with medical, psychological, social, and vocational aspects of disability and low-income populations.
• Knowledge of postsecondary education, community resources, occupational information and job readiness.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to facilitate positive actions and growth in a flexible environment requiring self-direction.
• Strong judgment, patience and ability to maintain relationships with diverse partners.
• Reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Provide vocational and academic guidance, advocacy, training, case management and supervision to Career Services participants.
• Act as liaison and navigator between technical and community colleges and Goodwill of North Georgia.
• Recruit eligible participants for funding to ensure program financial sustainability.
• Deliver high quality, individualized services while aligning with the organization’s mission.
• Conduct orientation to program services and policies for new participants.
• Maintain contact with colleges, high schools and referring counselors/agencies.
• Teach life skills, work adjustment and pre-employment skills.
• Prepare reports and summaries for funding and regulatory sources.
• Ensure smooth transitions of cases across services and agencies.
• Observe participants on the job in community sites and educational settings.
• Support and advocate for participants' higher quality of life through work and education.
• Ensure confidentiality and protect participant rights.
• Identify barriers to employment/education and develop individual plans.
• Provide ongoing counseling and crisis intervention as needed, coordinating resources.
• Maintain accurate documentation and participant files per policies.
• Prepare professional development plans and quarterly progress updates.
• Comply with all regulations and safety policies, participate in advisory boards as needed.
• Maintain relationships with community partners and participate in relevant meetings.
• Attend quarterly training forums and complete core Career Services training.

Education

Master’s degree in education, rehabilitation counseling or a counseling-related field
