Career Mobile Repair Technician/Driver (2600458)

TrinityRail is hiring a Career Technician, Mobile Repair/Driver at our Bluffton, IN site. Relocation to the Bluffton area is required.

What You'll Do
  • Conduct railcar inspections to ensure cars are in compliance
  • Perform repairs as necessary using current repair procedures
  • Meet customer expectations to deliver exceptional experience
  • Ensure accurate invoicing, inspection, and work order information
  • Pass required NDT disciplines and functional certifications, including tank car welding, and demonstrate familiarity with AAR rules and regulations
  • Actively participate in safety assessments and equipment inspections
  • Work within confined spaces and from elevated heights as required
  • Perform confined space monitoring and create hot work permits
  • Carry out work under supervision of site or crew leader
  • Follow all safety rules and practices
  • May be involved in safety committees or initiatives
  • Complete basic required on-board safety and quality training
  • Perform other duties as assigned
What You'll Need
  • Minimum 1.5 years’ experience in railcar maintenance or manufacturing, or proficiency in one or more of: Air Brake Testing, Welding, Gasket Valves and Fasteners, BLTII, PTII, VTII, Qualified Coating Applicator, Qualified Coating Inspector, Qualified Abrasive Blaster, or other applicable qualifications
  • Basic understanding of how to read engineered drawings
  • Any welding/valve/mechanical experience or railcar knowledge is preferred
  • Ability to learn all major railcar components and basic functions
  • Understanding of the Field Manual of the AAR Interchange rules
  • Use of hand tools such as hammers, torches, wrenches, hydraulic jacks, pneumatic tools, and others as required
  • May be required to mentor/train lower-level technicians
Requirements to Operate Trinity Rail Vehicle
  • Accepted candidates must operate a TrinityRail Mobile Repair Truck; DOT regulated operators may be required
  • Possess a current valid driver’s license
  • Maintain a clean motor vehicle record check for the previous 3 years (or 7 years if commercial motor vehicle experience is listed)
  • Complete and pass a DOT Physical
  • Complete and pass a Trinity‑issued road test
  • Annual certification and motor vehicle driving record checks apply
