Job summary

Trinity Industries in Sunray, TX is seeking an Entry Technician, Mobile Repair to learn railcar systems and support field maintenance.

You will inspect, repair, and test components, follow safety rules, and coordinate with teams. Valid driver’s license required; on-site work with potential travel.

Qualifications

• Learn all major railcar components and basic functions.
• Work under direct supervision to perform repair processes.
• May obtain specialized qualification and training (Air Brake Testing, Welding, Gasket Valves and Fasteners, BLTII, PTII, VTII, Qualified Coating Applicator/Inspector, etc.).
• Railcar knowledge or welding/valve/mechanical experience preferred.
• Valid Driver’s License with good driving record.

Responsibilities

• Conduct railcar inspections to ensure cars are in compliance.
• Perform repairs using current repair procedures.
• Meet customer expectations to deliver an exceptional customer experience.
• Ensure invoicing, inspection, and work order information is accurate; pass required NDT disciplines and certifications; familiarity with AAR rules.
• Actively participate in safety assessments and equipment inspections.
• Work in confined spaces and at heights; perform confined space monitoring and create hot work permits.
• Follow all safety rules and practices.
• May participate in safety committees or initiatives.
• May require a valid driver’s license and good driving record.
• Complete onboard training related to safety and quality.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

What You'll Do

• Conduct railcar inspections to ensure cars are in compliance.
• Perform repairs as necessary while always using current repair procedures.
• Meet the expectations and requirements of all customers to ensure we deliver an exceptional customer experience.
• Ensure all necessary invoicing, inspection, and work order information is accurate and complete. Has the ability to pass any required NDT disciplines and function specific certifications, which may include tank car welding, and demonstrates strong familiarity with AAR rules and regulations.
• Actively participate in safety assessments and equipment inspections.
• Have the ability to work within confined spaces and from elevated heights as required to perform work. Able to perform confined space monitoring and create hot work permits.
• Follow all safety rules and practices.
• May be involved in safety committees or initiatives.
• May be required to have a valid driver’s license and good driving record.
• Understand and complete all basic required on-board training in regard to safety and quality.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

What you’ll need:

• Ability to learn all major railcar components and basic functions.
• Will work under the direct supervision of a Career Mobile Technician or higher position to perform specific repair processes to railcars.
• Ability to use hand tools such as hammers, torches, wrenches, hydraulic jacks, pneumatic tools, and others as required.
• May be required to obtain specialized qualification and training in one of the following: Air Brake Testing, Welding, Gasket Valves and Fasteners, BLTII, PTII, VTII, Qualified Coating Applicator, Qualified Coating Inspector, Qualified Abrasive Blaster or other qualifications as applicable.
• Any type of welding/Valve/mechanical experience or railcar knowledge is preferred.
• Valid Driver’s License, good driving record.
