Job summary

Avivo in Waite Park, MN is seeking a Career Counselor to provide intensive case management and employment services for MFIP participants. You will partner with individuals to identify goals, overcome barriers, and build pathways toward meaningful work and long-term self-sufficiency.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with four years of relevant experience.
• Associate degree in human services or a related field with two years of relevant experience.
• Bachelor's degree in human services or a related field.
• Experience supporting individuals from diverse cultural, educational, and economic backgrounds.
• Strong communication, coaching, and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to support participants in goal setting, career exploration, and employment planning.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Experience working independently in community-based settings.
• Experience facilitating workshops, presentations, or group discussions.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and electronic data systems.
• Commitment to culturally responsive, participant-centered services.

Responsibilities

• Conduct participant orientations, intake assessments, and employment planning activities.
• Help participants identify career goals that align with their strengths, interests, and skills.
• Provide career counseling, job search assistance, resume development, and interview preparation.
• Assist participants in obtaining and maintaining competitive employment.
• Support participants in accessing training, educational opportunities, and community resources.
• Facilitate workshops on employment-related topics such as digital literacy, workplace communication, employer expectations, and resume writing.
• Develop relationships with employers and identify employment opportunities for participants.
• Represent Avivo at hiring events, networking opportunities, and community-based employment activities.
• Maintain accurate participant records, case notes, reporting, and database documentation.
• Collaborate with internal teams and community partners to support participant success and positive employment outcomes.
