Job summary

Open Sky Community Services is seeking a Career Counselor to provide wrap-around support for individuals pursuing competitive integrated employment. You will guide clients through job applications, resume writing, and interview preparation while coordinating with partners to align goals with each Career Plan.

The role emphasizes collaboration with MassAbility and state agencies, and you will support beneficiaries in understanding how benefits affect employment options.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.
• Valid Driver’s License, acceptable driving record and reliable transportation, required.
• Minimum of two years' experience working with individuals with disabilities (including behavioral health challenges).
• Must be willing to become a Certified Employment Specialist upon hire.
• Bicultural/Bilingual candidates encouraged to apply!

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with MassAbility and Department of Transitional Assistance to determine individuals employment and/or educational goals.
• Determine individuals’ vocational readiness through the development of relevant skills including completion of job applications, resume writing and interview preparation.
• Operate as a representative of Open Sky in meetings with funders related to work responsibilities and support for individuals served.
• Assist individuals in accessing and obtaining information about their benefits such as SSI, SSDI and others. Help individuals understand how benefits may affect their employment.
