Job Summary

The First- and Second-Year Career Coach will work with first- andsecond-year Leeds School of Business students in the exploratoryphase of their career journey. This position plays a vital role inhelping to set the stage for students in their undergraduate careerjourney. The Career Coach works with students to help determinewhat career paths align with their skills and interests and buildfoundational career skills.

This role points students to resources and assists with resumereviews and mock interviews, leads group sessions, and providesworkshops around professionalism. Career Coaches provide studentswith tailored guidance on recruiting, job search strategies, andindustry-specific skill development. This position leads andimplements the administrative components of the Career Developmentevents and programs with the support of the other Career OperationsProgram Manager and Career Coaching team members.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
Career Coaching
  • Provide group and one-on-one coaching with first- andsecond-year students in the Leeds Business School's undergraduateprogram.
  • Assist students with identifying career opportunities thatcapitalize on students’ strengths and interests.
  • Stay up to date with trends and recruiting practices inbusiness sectors (finance, management, business analytics,marketing, accounting, etc.), employer timelines, expectations, andtechnical assessment formats.
  • Train students to be prepared for succeeding in their jobsearch; this includes interview preparation, resume/cover letterreview, developing and delivering an effective personal brandstatement, and networking.
  • Deliver individual and group resume critiques ensuring thatstudents understand the importance of error-free and compellingresumes.
Career Education
  • Design, implement and evaluate foundational career programmingdelivered in 1st and 2nd year courses alongside faculty, staff,employer and alumni partners.
  • Partner with the First-Year Experience team on events andengagement initiatives, including maintaining a weekly presence inthe residence halls.
  • Collaborate closely with faculty to determine appropriatecareer-based assignments.
  • Work with Associate Director and other Career Coaches todevelop and deliver curricular (potentially in class teaching) andco-curricular career management programming to the undergraduatebusiness population.
  • Develop content for and conduct workshops, career panels andtraining sessions and signature events on various careertopics.
  • Develop and maintain resources (e.g., finance recruitingguides, case prep materials, technical skills modules).
  • Collaborate with employer relations staff to support on-campusrecruiting, employer events, and alumni engagement initiatives inthe finance sector.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of career treks (includingemployer outreach, student selection and preparation).
  • Manage and hire Career Peers.
  • Manage Leeds School of Business student entry points with theCareer Development Office (Career Peers, first-time appointments,Designing Your Leeds, Leeds Professionalism Summit, etc.).
Administration, Documentation & Tracking
  • Use Salesforce to track all interactions with students and totrack their progress and placement outcomes.
  • Work with the Associate Director, Career Coaching to develop,coordinate and implement the collection of student career interestand progress data. In addition to collecting this data, this personneeds to compile and understand the results in order to evaluateand address student needs in a timely fashion.
  • Career Coaches are responsible for working with their studentsand the Career team to meet school-wide placement and response rategoals, along with any other broad goal for the Careers Office.
  • Work with Academic Advisors, faculty, and other undergraduateprograms to share information on student progress and needs andidentify intervention strategies.
  • Work with the team to ensure graduate contact information iscollected and alumni contacts are up to date.
  • Track student participation, completion, and proficiency on allassignments and manage grading. Use performance metrics to measurestudent engagement and progress on learning outcomes. Revise orbuild new assignments in response to feedback.
What You Should Know
  • This position offers a hybrid work modality with three days perweek on campus, which includes two days in the dorm office on siteand one day in the office at Leeds.
  • Approximately 15 evenings/weekend days are required persemester.
  • We are unable to offer visa sponsorship for this position.
What We Can Offer
  • The annual hiring range for this position is $55,100-$60,000.Relocation is available for eligible candidates.

What We Require
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution and 1+ yearsof business industry experience or experience staffingroles/recruiting.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently to achieve allocated timelineswhile also working successfully in a team environment.
  • Ability to identify potential issues and use problem solvingskills to resolve challenges.
  • Superior customer service skills when interactingprofessionally with corporate recruiters, students, faculty,administrators and staff.
  • Comfort and skill in using technology including Word, Excel,PowerPoint, LinkedIn and other social media.
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships withfaculty and administrators.
  • Promotes creating an inclusive environment to reflect ourvalues and vision at Leeds.
What We Would Like You to Have
  • 3+ years of professional experience in a business role.
  • Career advising experience in higher education and/orindustry-specific experience.
  • Experience developing and tracking metrics to gauge studentprogress using a CRM or similar tool.
  • Knowledge of Salesforce.
