Job summary

Mendocino County seeks an Employment & Training Worker I to provide employability services to CalWORKs Job Services participants in Willits. Responsibilities include motivational interviewing, counseling, and linking clients to housing, education, health and other resources.

Under supervision, you will assess employment potential, maintain records, and collaborate with partner agencies. Bilingual English/Spanish encouraged; call 234-6600 for Spanish applications.

Qualifications

• One year of full-time experience as an Employment & Training Worker I; or
• Two years of full-time experience in vocational guidance, employment counseling or placement services with college units; or
• Associates degree with one year of related experience in vocational guidance or employment counseling.

Responsibilities

• Provide employability services to eligible applicants; assess needs and barriers to employment; refer to services and resources.
• Conduct interviews and use motivational interviewing to support self-sufficiency.
• Administer vocational tests and interpret results for counseling and planning.
• Maintain client records and generate reports using an automated system.
• Place clients into paid or unpaid work training and monitor progress.
• Provide outreach and participate in community presentations and job fairs.
