Job description

Florida Atlantic University is seeking a Career Coach, Career Pathways & Coaching - Boca Raton, FL. The Career Coach plays a critical role in advancing students' career and economic mobility by helping them become Day One Career Ready. Through personalized coaching, career education, employer engagement, and experiential learning opportunities, this position helps students understand the value and return on investment of their FAU education. This position guides students in connecting their academic experiences to career goals, developing professional competencies, making informed career decisions, and successfully transitioning into employment, graduate education, or other post-graduate opportunities.

Summary of Responsibilities

• Provide individualized career coaching to undergraduate students, graduate students, and alumni through virtual and in-person appointments on topics including career exploration, career pathways, major selection, internship and job search strategies, resume and cover letter development, interviewing, networking, graduate school preparation, and professional identity development.
• Completes detailed notes of the career coaching session according to standards and follows up with students and alumni with resources at the conclusion of each appointment.
• Support students in developing personalized career action plans that connect academic programs, co-curricular engagement, experiential learning opportunities, and career goals while helping students understand and communicate the return on investment of their education.
• Design, implement, and facilitate workshops, classroom presentations, and career education programs focused on career readiness, professional development, industry trends, career pathways, experiential learning, and workforce preparation.
• Administer, interpret, and utilize career assessments and evidence-based career development practices to assist students in identifying strengths, interests, values, skills, and career opportunities.
• Collaborate with campus partners to integrate career development throughout the student experience and promote career readiness as a shared institutional responsibility.
• Coordinate and deliver career development programming during orientation, admissions events, Family Weekend, and other university programs to educate students and families on career pathways, career readiness, experiential learning, and student success resources.
• Develop resources and programs that help students make informed decisions regarding majors, careers, internships, graduate education, and employment opportunities while increasing awareness of career outcomes and workforce demand.
• Teach and coordinate multiple sections of career courses, incorporating career development theory, labor market information, career readiness competencies, metacognition, decision-making skills, and career pathway exploration to support student success and retention.
• Actively promote and support experiential learning opportunities, including internships, cooperative education, undergraduate research, service learning, study abroad, clinical experiences, and other high-impact practices that enhance career readiness and post-graduate success.
• Collaborate with employer engagement staff and external partners to align student preparation with workforce needs and increase opportunities for internships, networking, experiential learning, and full-time employment.
• Assist with the coordination and promotion of career readiness technologies and programs, including virtual practice interviews, career assessments, and other tools designed to enhance student success.
• Support employer engagement activities, including career fairs, information sessions, recruiting events, networking programs, and industry-focused initiatives that connect students with career opportunities.
• Participate in supervision meetings, case reviews, assessment efforts, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance student outcomes and service delivery.
• Assist with management and promotion of the Owls Professional Clothing Closet and related initiatives that reduce barriers to student career success.
• Track and assess student engagement and career outcomes to support data-informed decision making and contribute to university goals related to student success, retention, and employment outcomes.
• Respond to inquiries submitted through Career Center communication channels.
• Attend departmental, divisional, and university meetings.
• Participate in Student Success Network initiatives and collaborative campus programs.
• Contribute to university-wide strategic initiatives that support student success, career readiness, and workforce development.
• Assist with special projects, assessment activities, and performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Master's degree in an appropriate area of specialization;
• or a bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience.

Salary: $50,000 - $51,500 Annually.

Work Days and Hours: Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Occasional evenings and weekends needed for special events, workshops, and presentations.
