Job summary

Goodwill SOLAC seeks a Career Advisor to provide job readiness support, resume development, interview coaching, and outreach to job seekers and employers across Community Career Centers in California.

You will staff centers, help place job seekers into employment, recruit for local businesses, and collaborate with other departments to connect participants with childcare, housing, GED and financial literacy resources. Occasional evenings/work weekends required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in HR/marketing/business/related field with four years sales/marketing experience.
• An additional three years of sales/marketing/job placement experience may substitute for the degree.
• Equitable combination of experience and education acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Participate in a Team Approach along with the other Career Advisor staffing the Community Career Center.
• Educates both employers and job seekers as to the necessity of providing employment verification documentation to the Career Advisor in a timely manner.
• Develops and records new business contacts weekly using a client management database and prepares weekly/monthly summaries for the VP.
• Advises job seekers on resume preparation, application completion, and using the Internet and other online platforms for job search.
• Coordinates efforts with AJCCs, Career Centers, and EDD offices to meet staffing needs of local businesses.
• Stays current on regional employment trends and reports to the VP and Board as requested.
• Keeps abreast of training needs and labor market trends to ensure participants’ employment.
• Oversees new business development by conducting recruitments or mini-job fairs at the centers.
• Represents Goodwill SOLAC at business/community events with presentations and information sharing.
