Position Overview:

The Career Development Specialist/Senior Career Development Specialist collaborates across the university to increase retention, graduation, and career readiness of CSP students. Responsibilities include developing and delivering career readiness initiatives, organizing career-focused events, delivering presentations, and providing career advising. The role also involves working with employers on recruiting efforts and representing the institution externally.

Essential Duties:
  1. Career Advising/Coaching: Provide career advising to students and alumni on topics such as career planning, job search, internships, resumes, interviews, networking, and graduate studies.
  2. Employer Relations: Coordinate job fairs, manage internship processes, oversee Blackboard course, and analyze industry trends. Senior duties include faculty training and curriculum recommendations.
  3. Career Outreach & Programming: Collaborate with faculty and staff to develop and deliver career readiness content and programs. Senior duties include consultations on career integration across departments.
  4. Technology & Social Media: Manage social media, website, and job/internship board (Handshake). Senior duties involve researching best practices and supporting on-campus employment efforts.
  5. Supervision: Contribute to onboarding student employees and oversee daily tasks.
Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree required; Master's preferred.
  • 1-2 years experience in career development, university career centers, recruiting, or related fields preferred. Senior level requires 2+ years of relevant experience.
  • Ability to build relationships with diverse individuals, work collaboratively, and manage time effectively.
  • Knowledge of recruitment strategies, job market trends, and data tracking.
Competencies:
  • Professional demeanor, positive attitude, strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Organizational skills, multitasking, prioritization, and initiative.
