Job summary

ChenMed LLC is seeking a dedicated Medical Assistant in Deerfield Beach, Florida. In this role, you'll measure patient vital signs, assist physicians, and support a team-focused environment.

You must have a high school diploma, experience as a medical assistant or similar role, and BLS certification. Competitive pay of $17.00 – $24.26 per hour is offered, along with bonuses and comprehensive employee benefits.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from a nationally accredited Program in Medical Assistant, Patient Care Technician, EMT or Paramedic required.
  • Minimum of 1 year of work experience as a Medical Assistant, Patient Care Technician, EMT or Paramedic required.
  • BLS for Healthcare Providers certification required.
  • Experience working with geriatric patients is a plus.

Job description

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Measure and record patient vital signs; record patient interview and medical history.
  • Catalog and communicate patient needs to the PCP, clinician, specialist and/or other clinical personnel.
  • Prepare patients for examinations and perform routine screening tests.
  • Assist physician with exams; explain treatment procedures and physician instructions to patient.
  • Observe patients and report any changes in patient conditions to the PCP, clinician, specialist and/or other clinical personnel.
  • Perform non-critical medical and therapeutic procedures based on medical instructions.
  • Collect phlebotomy and other lab specimens; perform basic waived lab tests.
  • Prepare and administer medications; change dressings, apply bandages, remove sutures and perform first aid procedures; use CPR skills when necessary, all under physician supervision.
  • Maintain supplies, equipment, stocks and sterilize instruments; practice OSHA safety standards; perform accurate, legal, and ethical documentation at all times.
  • Process patient phone messages, return calls and route them to other team members as appropriate; call patients to obtain and relay pertinent information for the physician.
  • Upon physician approval, call in prescriptions to pharmacy.
  • Use communication skills with appropriate medical terminology; follow appropriate legal and ethical professional conduct; authorized individuals will use the ChenMed Rx system to support physician medication dispensing.
  • Provide health coaching to a defined group of patients to support healthy lifestyle choices.
  • Follow up with coached patients via weekly calls.
  • Perform other duties as assigned and modified at manager’s discretion.

  • Ability to maintain effective and organized systems to ensure timely patient flow.

  • Proficient skills in Microsoft Office Suite products including Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Excel and other software.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to local centers as needed for coverage.
  • Spoken and written fluency in English.
  • Flexible to work evening, weekends and/or holidays as needed.

Minimum of 1 year of work experience as a Medical Assistant, Patient Care Technician, EMT or Paramedic required. BLS for Healthcare Providers required. Experience working with geriatric patients is a plus. EMR system experience preferred.

PAY RANGE

$17.00 – $24.26 per hour. Position may be eligible for bonuses or commissions. Compensation may vary based on experience, education, location and other factors.
