Job summary

Compass Senior Living in Portland, OR is seeking a Care Partner to support elders with daily living activities, monitor health, and provide comforting companionship. You will work with the Wellness Team to observe changes and ensure resident comfort, dignity, and safety as part of a compassionate care team.

This role emphasizes teamwork, clear communication with residents and families, and the ability to perform tasks with or without accommodations. Shift differentials offered!!!

Qualifications

• Provide personal care to elders’ daily living activities.
• Observe health changes and report to Wellness Team.
• Offer emotional support and companionship to residents.
• Assist with meals and feeding as needed.
• Engage residents in social and recreational activities.
• Communicate with residents, families and teammates.
• Maintain cleanliness and light housekeeping.

Responsibilities

• Assist elders with bathing, dressing, grooming and mobility.
• Monitor health and document changes for the Wellness Team.
• Provide emotional support and companionship.
• Help with meals and meal preparation assistance.
• Facilitate life-enrichment activities and social engagement.
• Communicate effectively with residents, families and staff.
• Keep living areas clean and orderly.

What You’ll Do

• You will provide personal care: assist elders with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility, possibly with walkers and wheelchairs.
• You will provide health monitoring and documentation: observe, document, and report changes in the elder’s health or behavior to the Wellness Team.
• You will give emotional support: may support elders dealing with loneliness, anxiety, or other emotional challenges. Engaging in conversation, active listening, and offering companionship is part of your role.
• You will assist with Meals: help elders with meals and possibly feed elders who require additional support.
• You will engage in social and recreational activities: supporting elders in life-enriching activities for their well-being.
• You will connect: Communicate with elders, their families, other team members, and guests.
• You will keep things clean: may involve light housekeeping, such as tidying up and ensuring general cleanliness.

What You’ll Bring

• You will bring a willingness to learn and work within a team environment.
• You will bring good verbal communication and the ability to read, write, and speak English with residents and coworkers who only speak English.
• You will bring licensing documentation (if required by your state) and be able to pass a criminal background check.
• You will bring the ability to perform job responsibilities with or without accommodation.
