Job summary

Charlottesville Health & Rehabilitation Center is seeking a Laundry Assistant to support our 105-bed rehabilitation and long-term care facility in Charlottesville. You will handle linen washing, drying, folding, and distribution to maintain clean and organized operations.

The role requires the ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds, with a focus on maintaining hygiene and patient confidentiality in daily tasks.

Qualifications

• Prior laundry experience preferred; prior healthcare experience also preferred.
• Ability to communicate, comprehend, understand, and write messages, and follow directions.
• Ability to perform as a team player and get along with all other employees.
• Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Requires frequent lifting (up to 50 pounds), bending, stooping, kneeling, etc.
• Must be able to operate dryers and washers and fold and hang linen and clothing.

Responsibilities

• Washes and dries linen and other clothing to ensure a clean and sanitary environment.
• Folds and stores linen and clothing properly to maintain organization and efficiency.
• Keeps the laundry area clean and free of debris to uphold high standards of cleanliness and hygiene.
• Delivers linen and clothing to designated areas to ensure timely and accurate distribution.
• Ensures that all patient clothing is properly identified to prevent mix-ups and maintain patient confidentiality.
• Reports loss and damage of linen or patient clothing to supervisor to maintain transparency and accountability.
