Job summary

Kern River Transitional Care Center is seeking a dependable and experienced Part-Time Cook to join the dietary team. The cook will prepare meals according to menus and portion control guidelines, ensuring safety and sanitation in a busy kitchen.

The role reports to the Dietary Supervisor and offers growth opportunities within a supportive team environment. The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent and at least 1 year of cooking experience in a hospital or long-term care setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1 year of cook experience in a hospital or long-term care facility.
• Ability to read technical procedures and follow recipes.
• ServSafe certificate must be obtained and maintained.
• Knowledge of PCC preferred and good standing with the Department of Public Health.

Responsibilities

• Maintain kitchen in a safe, orderly, clean and sanitary manner.
• Prepare tasteful meals and cook a variety of foods in large quantities.
• Follow prepared menus and portion control guides; prepare special diets accurately.
• Record food temperatures and prepare pureed foods; work with dietary staff.
• Supervise in the absence of the Dietary Supervisor and assist with serving meals.
• Follow cleaning schedules and maintain sanitary kitchen areas.
