Job summary

Gloucester Charities Trust is seeking a passionate Chef to join Magdalen House Residential Home. The role covers 36.75 hours weekly on a two‑week rota, 7.30am–6.30pm, with alternate weekends, preparing nutritious meals for older residents.

You will report to the Chef Manager, ensure safe food handling, allergen awareness, and contribute to special events and themed menus. We offer 28 days holiday, pension, free uniform, DBS, and ongoing training.

Qualifications

• Experience in a Chef, Cook, or similar catering role.
• Food Safety & Hygiene Level 2 or willing to obtain.
• Knowledge of allergens and special dietary requirements.
• Organised, reliable, and able to work under pressure.
• Strong team player with excellent communication.
• Passionate about providing excellent food and service for older people.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook, and present meals to a high standard.
• Assist in delivering a varied and nutritious menu.
• Cater for dietary requirements and texture-modified diets.
• Ensure food safety and hygienic preparation.
• Maintain kitchen cleanliness and comply with regs.
• Assist with stock control and minimising waste.
• Support Kitchen Assistants and wider care home team.
• Contribute to special events and themed menus.
• Promote a positive dining experience for residents.
