Qualifications

• Education and experience equivalent to high school graduation.
• One year of hospital transport work experience.
• Possession of an active Certified Nursing Assistant or Emergency Medical Technician certificate.
• Knowledge of customer service principles and interpersonal skills.
• Basic understanding of proper body mechanics.
• Understanding and following infection control practices.

Responsibilities

• Transports patients and/or patient-related items to destinations.
• Lifts and transfers patients to/from wheelchairs, gurneys, or beds.
• Completes all transport requests per established protocol.
• Verifies correct patient identification by comparing information to wristband.
• Alerts nursing staff to signs of distress or equipment malfunction.
• Notifies staff upon arrival and departure with patient.
• Disinfects transport equipment before and after use.
• Keeps simple transport records as required.
• Participates in orientation of other staff.
• Responds to emergency activities within department scope.
