Job summary

Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian in Newport Beach, CA seeks a Scheduling Specialist I to assist in coordinating patient procedure and surgical schedules. You will collaborate with patients, physicians, and departments to manage routine, add-on, and emergent procedures.

You will support pre-procedure tests, verify insurance authorizations, and perform front-office duties including data entry and chart preparation, in a high-volume environment with a focus on confidentiality and quality

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required
• Minimum of one year front office or scheduling experience
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Knowledge of body mechanics and safety
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook/Word/Excel/PowerPoint) and healthcare databases
• Knowledge of medical terminology preferred
• Ability to interface with physicians, staff, vendors, patients and families
• Full understanding of medical insurance procedures required
• Basic keyboarding 35 WPM preferred

Responsibilities

• Assist in coordination of patient procedure/surgical schedule
• Coordinate pre-procedure tests and clearances with patients
• Provide information to Insurance Verification Specialists for authorizations
• Handle patient registration, data entry, and chart preparation
• Interact with patients in a high-volume call environment
• Support continuous quality improvement and adhere to SOPs and confidentiality
