Job summary

Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian is seeking a Scheduling Specialist II to coordinate patient procedure and surgical schedules, including multi-appointment and emergent cases. You will liaise with physicians, departments, and insurance staff to obtain authorizations and arrange pre-procedure tests and clearances.

The role encompasses clerical duties, master scheduling, and maintaining patient itineraries in a fast-paced environment, with emphasis on quality control and confidentiality.

Qualifications

• High School Graduate or equivalent required
• Minimum of two (2) years’ previous scheduling experience
• Infusion: Minimum of three (3) years’ previous scheduling experience in healthcare setting required
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Knowledge of basic medical terminology preferred
• Proven ability to interface with all customer levels (Physicians, Staff, Vendors, Patients, Family members)
• Full understanding of medical insurance procedures required
• Basic keyboarding minimum 35 WPM preferred
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, plus Healthcare database systems required

Responsibilities

• Coordinate Patient Procedure/Surgical schedule and assist with complex procedures
• Collaborate with Insurance Verification Specialists and assist with authorization process
• Schedule pre-procedure tests and clearances, create patient itineraries
• Provide clerical support, data entry, patient charts, and maintain master schedule
• Interact with patients and staff in a high call volume environment
• Maintain knowledge of standard operating procedures and quality control requirements
