Job summary

Hyndman Area Health Center, Inc. in Bedford, PA is seeking a Referral Coordinator/Authorization Specialist to provide clinical support to busy providers and ensure efficient patient flow.

You will coordinate referrals and prior authorizations, verify insurance, contact patients and providers, and maintain EMR documentation to support timely access to specialty services. Qualifications

• Experience coordinating referrals and securing prior authorizations.
• Strong communication with patients, providers and insurers.
• Familiarity with EMR principles and HIPAA privacy rules.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and maintain appointment schedules for providers.
• Schedule referrals, specialty consults, imaging and tests.
• Obtain and manage prior authorizations per payer guidelines.
• Verify patient eligibility and insurance coverage for approvals.
• Review records to support referral requests and medical necessity.
• Communicate with patients, providers, and pharmacies about status.
• Document communications and activities in the EMR accurately.
• Assist patients with barriers to care and coordinate access to services.
