Summary of Primary Function/General Purpose of Position

The Care Companion provides supportive patient care under the guidance of the Registered Nurse or designated healthcare professional, in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as Bon Secours Mercy Health policies, procedures, and guidelines.

Essential Job Functions

1. Provide support to the patient, including care and comfort, personal hygiene, toileting, and mobility.
2. Create a safe environment for patients.
3. Act as liaison between patient and nurse to report changes or concerns.
4. Deliver high-level customer service to patients, their families, visitors, and staff.
5. Participate in hand-offs/report of pertinent information regarding patient and departmental needs upon arrival and departure.

Licensing/Certification

BLS Basic Life Support (preferred upon hire, must obtain from an approved source prior to direct patient care)

Working Conditions
