Job summary

Atlantic Health in Summit, NJ is seeking an Echo Sonographer I to perform comprehensive echo studies and contribute to patient education and safety. The role emphasizes teamwork, adherence to protocols, and accurate reporting within the radiology/imaging department.

Candidates should hold registry through CCI or ARDMS and BLS certification, with strong interpersonal and communication skills and comfort with-electronic medical records. This is a full-time on-site position in the New Jersey region.

Qualifications

• Registry through CCI or ARDMS is required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication; computer proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive echo exams following protocols; verify, plan, set up, perform and report examinations.
• Complete and record testing information accurately and timely; report critical results per policy; protect patient privacy.
• Communicate with physicians, patients and center personnel; provide information and recommendations.
• Maintain teamwork, accountability, problem-solve, and mentor others when appropriate.
• Keep work area clean and orderly; manage stocking needs and equipment per Infection Control policies.

• Performs comprehensive echo exams. Follows established protocols to verify, plan, set up, perform, and report appropriate examinations. Verifies identity and informs and observes patient during procedure to ensure patient education, cooperation, and safety. Assists in continuing quality assurance and performance improvement.
• Completes clerical tasks associated with ultrasound tests. Completes and records all testing information accurately, completely, and in a timely manner. Ensures that critical results are reported promptly and accurately, following established policy. Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality.
• Communicates with physicians, patients, and other center personnel. Maintains pleasant and informative manner in communicating with patients, physicians, and other center personnel. Makes recommendations to supervisor on related duties, policies and procedures.
• Enhances environment of teamwork. Shows motivation, enthusiasm, acceptance of responsibility and personal accountability with regard to daily duties. Engages in problem solving in difficult situations. Asks for assistance / guidance when appropriate and accepts suggestions in a positive manner. Demonstrates understanding of impact of individual performance on team. Seeks to mentor and develop others.
• Maintains work area in a clean and orderly manner. Cleans patient areas after each use and assists in maintaining a clean and orderly environment in the lab. Notifies supervisor of stocking needs and equipment needs or problems. Takes responsibility for lab opening and closing procedures when appropriate. Cleans and maintains all equipment according to Hospital Infection Control policies and procedures.

Perform comprehensive echo studies based on IAC (Intersocietal Accreditation Commission) Standard Protocol & utilization of saline & contrast agents.
