Job Description
Provides support to physicians performing non-invasive and/or invasive cardiovascular procedures.
Job Responsibilities
- Performs a variety of duties to prepare the unit for non-invasive and/or invasive cardiovascular procedures.
- Ensures all instrumentation/equipment for each procedure is presented on the table in an established fashion.
- Prepares the sterile field for procedures and adheres to aseptic technique as required.
- Obtains and prepares physician equipment for the procedure to be performed.
- Prepares the patient for the procedure, responds to questions, and alleviates concerns. Ensures the patient is correctly prepped and draped in a sterile fashion.
- Enters patient and procedural information into the computer system.
- Monitors patient status during the procedure, including hemodynamic data, electrocardiogram, blood pressure, chest pain, etc. Collects all pertinent data and calculations for physician interpretation.
- Balances, calibrates, and records appropriate hemodynamic data; intervenes in cardiopulmonary emergencies as needed.
- Operates equipment properly in a reliable manner, complying with departmental standards and safety guidelines.
- Performs related duties as required. All responsibilities noted here are considered essential functions under the Americans with Disabilities Act.
Job Qualifications
- Vocational or technical school diploma required.
- Specialized license and/or certification required.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required.
- 1-3 years of technical experience required.
- Cath Lab experience preferred.
- Cardiovascular Tech, Radiology Tech, or Respiratory Therapist licenses preferred.
