Job summary

Henry Ford Health is seeking a part-time Cardiovascular Tech I in Michigan to support stress testing, ECG and Holter monitor procedures under supervision. The role involves preparing patients, operating ECG equipment, and ensuring proper consent and documentation for physician review.

Responsibilities include training new staff as needed, assisting with clerical duties, and maintaining patient safety through pre- and post-procedure guidance to optimize cardiovascular assessments.

Qualifications

• Must possess and maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• High School graduate or equivalent required.
• Completion of a hospital-approved program in cardiology technology, or related college coursework, or the equivalent of one year prior experience in administering stress tests or prior EKG experience.
• Knowledge of proper 12 lead electrocardiographic lead placement and skin preparation techniques.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology.
• Ability to recognize technical artifacts and cardiac arrhythmia patterns including blocks, ischemia and infarction.

Responsibilities

• Prepares patients for stress testing procedures and monitors vital signs before and after tests.
• Operates electrocardiographic recorders to produce accurate tracings free of artifacts.
• Verifies patient consent forms are signed prior to testing.
• Obtains patient medical histories for physician review and documents findings.
• Instructs patients on post-procedure activities, diet, exercise and restrictions.
