Job description

Responsibilities

• Assesses, plans, and implements nursing care in the CVOR while ensuring patient comfort.
• Anticipates, identifies, and responds to informational and emotional needs of patients and families.
• Guides and directs healthcare personnel (e.g., Patient Care Technicians) in caring for patients.
• Maintains knowledge of equipment setup, maintenance, and use (e.g., IV pumps, monitoring equipment, drainage devices). Utilizes safeguards such as IV pump drug library and monitor alarms.
• Initiates emergency support measures (e.g., cardiopulmonary resuscitation, injury prevention).
• Assists with patient care duties/tasks (e.g., emptying drainage devices, ambulating, hygiene).

We are offering a sign-on bonus up to $25,000 depending on shift and eligibility. Additional pay is available for participation in our clinical ladder, along with referral bonuses, excellent benefits, and relocation assistance.

Qualifications

• Unencumbered license to practice in Arkansas.
• Minimum 6 months of acute care experience required; new graduates or nurses without acute care experience are hired through our residency program. 1 year of experience is required for PRN positions.
• Previous CVOR experience is preferred but not required.
• BLS certification through the American Heart Association is required.

As a CVOR Nurse at CHI St Vincent, you will prepare patients for surgery and assist in the operating room to ensure excellent nursing care during vulnerable times.

Your daily tasks include reviewing consent forms, answering patient questions, conducting preoperative assessments, preparing equipment, updating families, and assisting surgeons during procedures.

Success in this role requires focus, multitasking, calmness under pressure, and good judgment in emergencies.
