Job summary

American Heart Association in Dallas, TX is seeking a Science and Medicine Advisor (SMA) to guide physicians, scientists, and allied health volunteers in developing statements, guidelines, and educational programs.

The SMA serves as an internal expert, supports staff on publications and public-facing materials, and collaborates across teams to translate current science into Association programs, with travel up to 25%.

Qualifications

• RN, MD, NP, or PA with graduate degree and cardiovascular clinical experience.
• Minimum of three years professional adult cardiology clinical experience; eight years preferred.
• Superior writing & communication skills with a publication history in peer-reviewed journals.
• Strong interpersonal skills for volunteers, staff, and public.
• Travel overnight approx. 25% of the time.

Responsibilities

• Guide and partner with science volunteers in creating scientific statements, advisories, guidelines, and programs.
• Provide consultation and approval on science aspects for publications, websites, and marketing materials.
• Review content for Association professional websites and products.
• Synthesize and explain current state of science and medicine to lay professionals and internal staff.
