Job summary

Wake Forest University Health Sciences is seeking a Research Laboratory Technician in the Cardiothoracic Surgery department. You will coordinate laboratory operations, manage equipment and inventory, assist with regulatory compliance, and perform advanced molecular biology techniques while supervising junior personnel.

The role involves collaboration with the Principal Investigator to advance cardiovascular research.

Qualifications

• Ability to listen and communicate effectively.
• Basic computer skills required.
• Knowledge of medical terminology to interact with medical staff.
• Familiarity with medical equipment and instruments.
• Understanding of safety hazards and universal precautions.

Responsibilities

• Consult with principal investigator to design experiments and data collection.
• Modify lab procedures to fit project needs.
• Prepare reports and discuss results with PI.
• Review literature for experimental procedures and background information.
• Conduct chemical, physical and biological tests on samples.
• Perform micro-analysis, enzymatic and chromatographic studies.
• Monitor animal care and collect samples as per protocol.
• Supervise and train junior staff in lab procedures.
• Operate specialized lab instruments and train others in their use.
• Maintain inventory of lab supplies and equipment.
