Qualifications

  • Graduate of an approved accredited Radiologic Technology program.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • ACLS certification (must be obtained within orientation period and prior to working independently).
  • ARRT(R) registered.
  • State Licensure: Kentucky KBMIRT Radiation Operator's License.
  • Indiana license to be obtained if working in Indiana.

Responsibilities

  • Operates and maintains radiographic, digital, processing and viewing equipment for high-quality images and quantitative analysis.
  • Acts as first assistant during diagnostic and therapeutic catheterization procedures.
  • Maintains knowledge of diagnostic and therapeutic equipment for accuracy and safety.
  • Reviews pre-procedural assessments and communicates pertinent data to MDs for imaging and patient safety.
  • Assist in education of new employees and mentors.
  • Assist in performance improvement activities in the cath lab, including data collection and analysis.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Summary:

The Cardiovascular Radiologic Technologist I is a health care professional that, through the utilization of specialized equipment and under the direction of a qualified cardiologist assists procedures on adult patients resulting in accurate diagnosis and/or optimal treatment of congenital or acquired heart and/or peripheral vascular disease while maintaining maximum patient safety. CVRT-I is primarily responsible for employing imaging techniques and operation of X-Ray and other related equipment. Demonstrate respect, dignity, kindness and empathy in each encounter with all patients, families, visitors and other employees regardless of cultural background.

Job Duties:

  • Operates and maintains all radiographic, digital, processing and viewing equipment associated with the production of high-quality images and quantitative analysis of coronary/peripheral anatomy. Applies principles of radiation safety and protection.
  • Acts as first assistant during diagnostic and therapeutic catheterization procedures to assure completeness of case.
  • Maintains a thorough knowledge in the use of all diagnostic and therapeutic equipment and products for procedures to ensure its’ accuracy and safety.
  • Reviews the pre-procedural patient assessment to obtain adequate information, communicate pertinent data to MD and ensure appropriate imaging and patient safety.
  • Assist in the education process of new employees, mentors students and other healthcare professionals observing in the cath lab.
  • Assist in the development of performance improvement activities in the cath lab, to include ideas, data collection, data analysis and implementing change to ensure best practice in the cath lab.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education, Credentials, Licenses:

  • Graduate of an approved accredited program of Radiologic Technology.
  • Current CPR certification
  • ACLS certification (must be obtained within orientation period and prior to working independently)
  • ARRT(R) registered
  • State Licensure:

Kentucky

  • KBMIRT Radiation Operator's License

Indiana

  • Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH) License to be obtained if working in Indiana

Specialized Knowledge:

Understanding of radiation protection and sterile technique

Kind and Length of Experience:

Licensed RT with adequate clinical experience from an approved program.
