Job summary

Highmark Health / AHN in Pittsburgh, PA is seeking a qualified perfusionist to provide perfusion services during cardiothoracic surgeries and ECMO/ECLS support. The role involves assembling and managing CPB equipment, monitoring hemodynamics, administering medications, and collaborating with surgeons and ICU staff.

On-call duties nights, weekends, and holidays are required. Applicants must have a Bachelor's degree in biology/chemistry or related sciences, PA licensure, and ABCP certification;

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry or related sciences.
• Basic computer skills.
• Previous experience as a clinical perfusionist (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Assemble, operate, maintain and manage extracorporeal perfusion equipment for major surgeries.
• Monitor and interpret physiologic parameters; administer medications via the extracorporeal circuit.
• Provide ECMO/ECLS support including circuit priming and weaning; 24‑hour coverage as needed.
• Assist with ventricular assist devices and other circulatory support equipment.
• Provide adjunct perfusion services and participate in ongoing education.
• Maintain licensure and pursue continuing education; deployment to AHN cost centers as required.
• On-call duties include nights, weekends and holidays; perform other duties as assigned.
