Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Part-time Nights Patient Care Tech in the Cardiovascular unit. The role supports RNs and physicians with patient care tasks, specimen handling, EKGs, telemetry, hygiene, mobility, and safety under supervision.

Responsibilities include hourly rounding, data documentation, collaboration with the healthcare team, and ensuring a safe clinical environment. Requires CN A program completion and BLS; high school diploma or equivalent.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of an accredited CNA program and listed on the state of Illinois CNA Registry.
• BLS through American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

• Performs a variety of clinical/patient care related functions under the direction of the RN or physician.
• Collects, labels and transports specimens; obtains 12 lead EKGs; discontinues saline locks and urinary catheters.
• Monitors telemetry, performs bladder scans, and assists with Point of Care Testing as appropriate.
• Assists patients with personal hygiene, nutrition, ambulation and positioning; responds to call lights promptly.
• Maintains a safe care environment and supports learning and performance improvement activities.
