Job summary

Northwestern Medicine’s Cardiac Intermediate unit seeks a Part-time Patient Care Technician for days. The role supports an active 26-bed cardiac step-down unit within the BCVI, delivering basic nursing care under RN supervision. Candidates should have CNA, CMA, EMT credentials or be nursing students with clinical exposure, and hold BLS.

Rotating weekends and a supportive team culture are emphasized. The position emphasizes patient-centered care, effective communication, and adherence to safety

Qualifications

• Certified Nursing Assistant, Certified Medical Assistant, Emergency Medical Technician, or nursing student with one semester of clinical completed
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)

Responsibilities

• Performs basic nursing care activities as delegated and supervised by an RN, including monitoring vital signs and recording intake and output.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living including bathing, grooming, and eating.
• Reports abnormal findings to nursing staff and assists with keeping patient rooms clean and orderly.
• Demonstrates flexibility, organization, and multitasking to adapt to unit needs and priorities.
• Acts as liaison between patient care units and other departments; communicates with staff/family/patients.
