Job summary

WakeMed Heart & Vascular seeks a Medical Assistant to join a highly specialized team caring for patients with cardiovascular disease and advanced heart failure. You will collaborate with physicians, APPs, nurses, and other clinicians to deliver compassionate, patient-centered care.

Ideal candidates have experience in specialty care, thrive in a collaborative setting, and are committed to the WakeWay to Excellence. Certification is preferred per WakeMed requirements.

Qualifications

• Experience in a specialty practice environment is preferred.
• Ability to work effectively with interdisciplinary teams in a fast-paced clinic.
• Compassionate, patient-focused approach with strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Room patients, obtain vital signs, update histories, and document in the EMR.
• Assist providers with examinations, procedures, and cardiac care workflows.
• Coordinate care with physicians, APPs, nurses, and other team members.
• Support cardiovascular patients with education, follow-up, and appointment management.
• Process medication requests, prior authorizations, referrals, and testing.
• Monitor schedules, patient flow, and clinic operations.
• Communicate professionally with patients, families, and the healthcare team.
• Maintain exam rooms, supplies, and equipment following safety standards.
